Post Remediation Mold Inspection and Quality Control

The objective of inspection and quality control throughout a mold removal / remediation project is to achieve successful post remediation verification; which results in projects of good quality and reasonable cost.  Inspection and quality control are required on all GeoFocus Mould Solutions projects to ensure that the work being performed is performed in accordance with plans, specifications and good practice.  A professionally prepared scope of work for mold removal / remediation may be completely ruined by careless execution.  This can lead to defective work with the possibility of the failure of engineering controls designed to prevent cross contamination between complaint and non-complaint zones.  Careful inspection and quality control throughout the mold removal / remediation project is, therefore, as important as the preliminary mold investigations investigation and design of the scope of work.  As it is very difficult and expensive to rectify a project executed in error, it is necessary to inspect the mold remediation project throughout the duration of the project; however, especially important at the following three milestones:

• Clean Site  Preparation
  • Inspection of the work area prior to the start of destructive removal, to reduce the risk of exposure to occupants in the building and to ensure engineering controls have been properly utilized.
• Post-Remediation Visual Inspection
  • Inspection of the work area after destructive removal has been completed and post mold remediation cleaning has occurred.  This is done to document that the scope of work has been completed in general accordance with the contract documents and to verify cleanliness of the mold remediation and surrounding areas.
• Post-Remediation Verification
  • Environmental testing after cleaning but prior to enclosure tear-down to document that degradation of indoor air quality due to mould growth is no longer an issue.

ACAC certification programs are accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), a nationally recognized third party accreditation body serving science-related professions.  Our CMI is a vital component to our remediation team and to our Clients because our CMI reviews all sites prior to the completion of remediation and prior to post remediation verification by independent third parties.  Our CMI ensures that the amount of retesting required on our projects is minimal to nil; potentially, saving our Clients thousands of dollars.
